Best of the Book: Quotes to Write By
![How to Write Your Way Out of the Rat Race [28 Days of Prizes!] - Day 2](https://i0.wp.com/beafreelanceblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/woman-213723_640-pixabay-300x214.jpg?resize=300%2C214)
There are so many brilliant moments in this ebook, it’s not easy to choose only a few to share with you.
There are hilarious bits. There are serious bits. There are bits that teach the business skills you’ll need and bits that show you how to gain confidence. There’s so much I’d like to show you, but I’ve picked out my top 3 quotes as examples of the rest.
Here’s the one that made me stop and think:
One member of the Freelance Writers Den had success sending out videos of himself instead of letters—I guess we could call them Videos of Introduction (VOI).
Don’t be afraid to try something off-the-wall, as long as it showcases your ability to grab eyeballs through content marketing. For example, how about a podcast that includes a case study of how your content writing services helped a client (even if it’s a free client) buld their email list or increase loyalty?
Here’s the one that made me laugh out loud:
I recently received a 400-word blog comment from someone who was horrified to find two typos in a post.
What I got out of that was not that I needed to spend more time poring over my drafts. It was that this person spent goodness-knows-how-long nitpicking over the imperfections of my writing while I was out inspiring readers and landing clients with said writing.
And here’s the moment when I felt like saying “Linda, are you reading my mind?”
The most important thing you can do right now is market yourself as a writer. (Much, much more on that later.) Worry about the rest after you’ve started landing writing assignments. After all, it won’t matter if you have a great home office set up if buying and arranging all the furniture and equipment keeps you from getting out there and winning assignments.
